ISHN highlights Steve Duncan’s promotion to Chief Operating Officer

August 21, 2019 | ISHN – Industrial Safety & Hygiene News

C&W Environmental Solutions, a leader in dust collection and air pollution control, recently announced the promotion of Steve Duncan to chief operating officer. In this new role, Duncan will continue to manage the company’s operations, as well as assume a greater role in the management of the business through administrative oversite, new product development, and strategic planning and execution.

The strategic plan includes significant upgrades to the company’s manufacturing capabilities to enhance productivity and better position C&W to enter new markets. Duncan will manage the capital expenditure plan, drawing on more than 29 years of expertise and experience in engineering, financial and operations management.

“For the past 14 years, Steve has brought an unmatched level of personal commitment and passion to all aspects of our business. He has built significant trust as a mentor to C&W employees across the company,” said Deryl Beakley, president of C&W. “Steve is our chief executor and has the unique ability to collaborate and lead the development and implementation of a broad range of initiatives.”

As a member of the executive team, Duncan will work closely with Beakley and recently hired C&W chief growth officer Bill Werra to drive the future of C&W.

“I’m excited to work with Deryl and Bill to support C&W’s evolution into new markets through product development, the expansion of our in-house capabilities and cross-functional collaboration,” said Duncan. “I’m personally committed to elevating the value that C&W delivers to customers, and look forward to working with managers and their teams to launch and execute key strategies.”

Steve is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington.

Bill Werra has joined the company as Chief Growth Officer and a member of the executive leadership team. The newly created position aligns sales and marketing with product and business development to deliver new value to its customers and expand its reach into new markets.

“C&W is the recognized leader in innovative dust collection systems for the Ready-Mix market and well known for its innovative technologies and best-in-class equipment,” Werra said.  “I’m excited to join a company that has such a solid foundation upon which to build. Our goal, as a team, is to look for new ways to better serve customers across industries and to help them maximize operational efficiencies, reduce environmental impact and create healthier, safer work environments.”

The position leverages the experience, relationships and industry knowledge Werra has built over a successful 25-year career. Most recently as vice president of commercial operations for Sentry Equipment, Werra directed the company’s expansion into new markets, led several strategic acquisitions, and managed Sentry’s sales, distribution network and marketing teams. He began his career in sales and sales management for Schenck Process LLC, a leading industrial solutions provider, where he managed a network of dealers, many of whom are today part of C&W’s dealer network.

According to Deryl Beakley, C&W president, Werra is a strong addition to the C&W executive team. “Bill is an exceptional leader with significant industry knowledge and a broad range of experience. But more than that, Bill is an expert at building relationships. He understands the importance of making sure that every voice is heard, and that as a team we are aligned in our commitment to deliver unprecedented customer value. At the end of the day, it is this capability that will drive C&W’s future growth.”

Werra is currently the immediate past president of the Process Equipment Manufacturers’ Association and is a member of the organization’s executive committee and board of directors. He also serves as a member of the Association of Corporate Growth – Wisconsin’s board of directors and program committee.

He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
